• GFirst - Growing Gloucestershire - plans enhance employment opportunities around Elms Park Monday, March 17, 2014

The GFirst LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership) has recently submitted its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) to Government.

Developing work opportunities is a key element of the plan and one of the proposals is for an apprentice clearing house, based around the UCAS model.  This has been formulated in recognition of the need for apprenticeships and appropriate skills to be developed in the county.

Bloor Homes and Persimmon Homes, developers of the Elms Park project, working in conjunction with Gloucestershire College, have agreed to support the clearing house by providing 30 building apprenticeships every year over the life of the development.

Commenting on the partnership, Sylvia Bullock, Vice Principal – Employer Engagement with Gloucestershire College explained:  “Working with Bloor and Persimmon on Elms Park guarantees places for years to come and will give our students the opportunity to work and learn close to home.”
